November Update...

I've been extremely busy.

I've been mostly working on our game. Making sure the animations of the sprites are aligned just right...

Developing some characters... Working on the story.... Thinking about the NSFW stuff (Which is actually the hard part for me)

The game involves a character who used to be my requesters OC. It's supposed to be about her saving the queen of a kingdom who's also a long time friend. So far... it's been... still in development. We're still bouncing ideas around, but I want it to be like Deus Ex. I talked about it a lot with my partner. At this point, he's probably tired of hearing it. The theme of the game we're aiming for is supposed to be like Witcher.

My aim is also to make the game immersive, and make sure that actions have consequences. However.. With both of our limited programing skills... I'm not sure how that would look. It would require both of us to do intense research on how script something like that.

For now, I've been focusing on the animation and art. I've been put in charge as lead and only artist for our game.

The sprite animations are actually 8 frames. Since our game is in Overhead view, I've had to make 8 drawings for 4 directions. I've also had to put another 8 for running and 1 more for the idle animations. It was originally supposed to be 3 frames per direction, but I wasn't satisfied with that. It's also not the easiest thing to do since I'm working with pixels and not drawings.

So... 1 frame for idle animations... 8 frames just for walking... another 8 for running

that's a total of 17 frames per direction.

17 frames x 4 Directions

I'm doing about 68 frames per character. .. Which is also 68 drawings.

I could've used default assets, But I insisted to my partner that It would be better to create our own. I believe NPC/Enemies will have slightly fewer frames, but it shouldnt be to noticeable. But why would I make so many frames you ask? well, it's because the artstyle for the pixel sprites are based on Castlevania, Symphony of the night. Alucard has an insane amount of frames, especially just for walking. I wanted to use it for myself. And it has drawn my interest to the characters more.

And as for the art itself... I was thinking of making it like a comic book. The characters will converse with each other.. then a panel will show up. It will show a brief but different perspective of what each situation is like.

This is quite an update... but I think I've spent enough time talking. I have some art to create. I'll try to keep you posted next month. And... Happy Thanks giving. If there was something I was thankful for... I'd say i'm thankful for.. Finally living my dream. All of it at once actually. When I was a kid, I was actually interested in sprite animations.... then it changed to game development... then it changed to art. And now... I find myself living all 3. Quite an interesting situation I got myself into.

And until then.. I'll see you in the December update. Remember to love your family. And most importantly... No one is truely alone in this world.
